Top corporate health and fitness trends

Published by HealthFitness on January 2nd, 2023

Helping employees stay connected and caring for their health and wellbeing has never been more important. In order for employers to move forward, engage employees and help them make connections in the new year, here are the top health and fitness trends to watch.

Hybrid gym memberships. Includes fitness opportunities beyond the traditional brick-and-mortar fitness center settings, with digital solutions that can reach more people. But the two don’t need to compete. Hybrid gym memberships make it convenient for people to get a workout in at their gym — and at home or on the road when they’re traveling.

Wearable technology. Includes devices such as fitness trackers, smart watches and heart rate monitors that provide wearers with valuable information that can help them improve their health.

Personal and small group training. Includes in person and virtual training lead by certified trainers providing personalized and dedicated support. The need and desire for people to reconnect and create relationships with others has greatly increased — in fact, at many of our client sites the engagement of our personal training has exceeded pre-pandemic levels!

Strength training with free weights. Includes barbells, kettlebells, platforms, benches and core bags for a back-to-the-basics approach. Involves strength and functional training to help people focus on mobility and balance as they age.

Outdoor fitness. Uses space from mother nature and a variety of equipment geared for use outdoors. This includes campus greenspace, parking lots, mobile trailers, and pavilions. We provide outdoor fitness programming with open air pavilions and trailers designed by our partner BeaverFit.

Exercise for weight loss. Uses mobility, speed, and resistance training concepts. Exercise involves high intensity, quick burn workouts that includes strength training as opposed to long cardio sessions.

Ergonomic support for remote and hybrid workers. Involves helping people move smarter and healthier by minimizing risk exposure and improving work techniques. We’ve seen some very creative home office workstations over the past couple years, and now that many people have moved to a hybrid work environment, we’re seeing an increased need for support with ergonomics and musculoskeletal issues.

Nutrition, education, mental health and wellbeing programs. Includes caring for the whole person and nurturing a health-minded culture. Wellbeing services—such as including coaching and educational programs—promote long-term health and wellness and support the physical, social and emotional health.

Community and connections. With the sense of isolation that COVID created for so many people, we have found that people are looking for that sense of community and connecting with others in a meaningful way. They want to re-establish those in-person relationships. At HealthFitness, we build relationships, helping all your people, whether they work on-site, remote or hybrid, feel that they belong to an organization who truly cares about their health and wellbeing.
